Kate M. Carey
Executive Director
Ohio Learning Network

Kate Carey is the lead officer for the Ohio Learning Network (OLN), an initiative of the Ohio Board of Regents. A consortium of 81 colleges and universities, OLN helps Ohioans gain more education, promotes using technology in teaching and learning, and builds Ohio's capacity and effectiveness through statewide shared resources.

OLN hosts an online catalog of more than 200 certificates and degrees and 4000 courses offered at a distance. OLN provides a free online course called E 4 Me so adults can explore e-learning. OLN is a catalyst in building faculty capacity to use technology in teaching and learning via Learning Communities and other faculty development events and resources.

OLN creates efficiencies with statewide licensing of tools, statewide CLE hosting, and supporting emerging learning technologies, including open source products.

Dr. Kate M. Carey holds an associate of applied science in natural resources from Muskingum Area Technical College, and bachelor's and master's degrees in journalism from The Ohio State University. Her doctorate in educational policy and leadership is from Ohio State. Her research interests are in state-level funding and policy issues and uses of educational technologies in teaching and learning. Carey is a recipient of the Outstanding Alumni Award from the Ohio Community College Association.
